OpalGroup is a small personal experiment to see how consumer hardware performs mining Monero in 2024–25. Nothing commercial — just curiosity. We're running XMRig with custom configs on both Linux and Windows to compare thermal behaviour, efficiency, and real-world hash rates under different OS conditions.
Our main test machine is a Dell Latitude 5520 — a completely standard mid-range laptop with no overclocking. It's logged as opal_lat in our pool data. We'll expand to more devices as the experiment progresses.
